SCHOLARSHIPS

The Dave Clark Memorial Scholarship is given by the Bennington Community Foundation in honor of Dave Clark, who dedicated his life to the betterment and development of the Bennington community and its youth.

Carter Behnken
2024 | $1,000

The sixth annual Bennington Community Foundation/Dave Clark Memorial scholarship was awarded to Carter Behnken. During all four of his high school years, Carter was involved in the BHS Outdoor Club and Skills USA. He was also a member of the Bennington Trap Shooting Team, competing at the conference, district and state levels. Carter has been greatly involved with 4-H during his high school years including several county, state and national programs. He served as a delegate to the National 4-H Congress and Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute. He is also a member of the Dairy Cattle Breed Association. Carter plans to study Agricultural Communications/Agribusiness at UNL.

Ainsley
schultz
2023 | $1,000

Ainsley Schultz was awarded the Bennington Community Foundation/Dave Clark Memorial Scholarship at the 2023 Bennington Public School Foundation Award ceremony. During her high school years, Ainsley was involved with Student Senate, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, Principal's Advisory, and Hugh O'Brian Youth. She has also been involved with numerous community organizations including the Bennington Community Foundation, the Bennington High School Booster Club, Open Door Mission and Red Cross Blood Drive. In her essay Ainsley stated, “Volunteering boosts my confidence for socializing with people and life-satisfaction that you are making a difference, even if it’s not big. I believe that in High School people should go out of their way to volunteer and be involved because we can all make a difference no matter how big or small!” She plans to attend Kansas University and study Sports Marketing.

Trevor
Heese
2022 | $1,000

The Bennington Community Foundation presented its 4th annual Dave Clark Memorial Scholarship to Trevor Heese at the Bennington Public School Foundation Award ceremony. Trevor participated in football and basketball all four years of high school. He also participated in unified football, basketball and bowling. Trevor was active in the All Play Miracle League, Down's Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands and youth sports camps. Trevor plans to attend either the University of South Dakota or Peru State College and study Physical Education. The scholarship was presented to him by Joni Schultz, BCF member.

Taylor
ryan
2021 | $1,000

Taylor Ryan is recipient of the 2021 BCF Dave Clark Scholarship.  Taylor served on the Student Senate throughout her high school years. She was a member of track and soccer teams all four years of high school, as well as participating in cheerleading and cross country for three years.  She was in the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America.  She served on the Athletic Advisory Council and Women's Athletic Leadership Council.  Taylor was a very active participant of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and served on the junior board of Lolo's Angels Pediatric Cancer serving as their public relations officer.  She also served on the Nebraska Leadership Seminar Executive Board.

JUSTIN GROTHENDICK
2020 | $1,000

​Justin Grothendick is a lifelong citizen of Bennington.  Justin made the journey through Webelos, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and achieved the distinction of becoming an Eagle Scout. He participated in track and field all four of his high school years.  Justin was a member of the Student Senate and Key Club.  He is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  He plans to study pre-med at Northwest Missouri State University.

BRAYDEN OBORNY
2019 | $1,000

Brayden Obrony is the first recipient of the BCF Dave Clark Memorial Scholarship.  Brayden participated in basketball all four of his high school years.  He also helped with the youth basketball camps in the summer.  Brayden is a member of the fire cadets with the Bennington Volunteer Fire Department.  He is very active in his church.  Brayden plans to study computers and technology in college.
